Support LYS

The Lincoln Youth Symphony is financially supported by the Lincoln Public Schools, the Foundation for Lincoln Public Schools, and the Lincoln Youth Symphony Foundation. Monetary donations to help with music, literature and cultural exchanges are appreciated. Students learn different cultures when they travel both nationally and abroad which will help them become world leaders in the future. Performing and travelling abroad also promote understanding between the people of the U.S. and the people of the world.

Every two to three years, LYS organizes a major international performance tour. During these tours, students have the opportunity to perform music for their foreign hosts and learn about them and their culture.

With a commitment to offering our young musicians cultural experiences around the globe, the orchestra has performed in Rome, Vienna, Prague, Budapest, Leipzig, Dresden, Belfast and Dublin since 2009. Prior to that time, the orchestra has performed in national music conferences in Chicago, St. Louis and Kansas City and participated in an international exchanges in Mexico, Hong Kong and China.

The symphony’s musical tour experiences have traditionally been financed partly by contributions from Lincoln area businesses, individuals and private foundations and other Nebraska foundations but largely by the fundraising efforts of the students who have made their trips possible.

The Lincoln Youth Symphony Foundation raises money to help defray the extra costs associated with the trip including instrument rental and transportation. Those who share our desire to enrich the musical cultural exchange of the students are encouraged to make a tax-deductible contribution to the Lincoln Youth Symphony Foundation.

All monetary donations are tax-deductible.
