AUDITIONS FOR THE 2024-25 LINCOLN YOUTH SYMPHONY
All auditions will be held at Lincoln High School, Room 132
April 30, Auditions for Senior Soloists (submit senior solo application to Mr. Potter via email.), 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm
May 7, Auditions for all returning 1st years players and new brass, woodwind, and percussion players, 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm
May 14, Auditions for all new hopeful string players, 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm
Reserve an audition time by sending an email to Mr. Potter at cpotter1@unl.edu with your name, instrument and any time restraints you may have on audition day.
String Audition Material: Bass , Violin, Viola, Cello
Woodwinds Audition Material: Clarinet, Flute, Oboe, Bassoon, Piccolo
Woodwinds audition requirements:
- Chromatic scale showing the student’s full range
- Prepared Excerpt
- Sight Reading (provided at the audition)
Woodwinds should prepare the bracketed sections in the attached excerpts from Beethoven’s Egmont Overture. Any student who wishes to audition on piccolo should play the flute AND piccolo excerpts.
Brass Audition Material: Tuba, Trumpet, Trombone, Horn
All brass students should also prepare the following:
2 octave chromatic and a two octave major scale of their choice.
Sightreading will be expected and provided at the audition.
